About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of Dudley Council for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker β Children in Care to join their well-established Children in Care Team on a full-time temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to support children and young people to achieve safe, stable, and positive outcomes. You will manage a varied caseload of children and young people with permanence plans, providing high-quality, child-centred support throughout their journey in care.
The successful candidate will build meaningful relationships with children, families, carers, and partner agencies while promoting stability, permanency, and long-term positive outcomes.
You will undertake statutory visits, assessments, care planning, and pathway planning, ensuring all work is completed in line with statutory guidance, legislation, and best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Manage a varied caseload of children and young people with permanence plans.
β’ Undertake statutory visits, assessments, care planning, and pathway planning.
β’ Develop and maintain effective care plans that promote stability and positive outcomes.
β’ Assess and manage safeguarding risks, ensuring children remain safe and their needs are appropriately addressed.
β’ Support permanence planning, including reunification, adoption, long-term fostering, residential care, connected persons placements, and Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs).
β’ Support pathway planning for young people preparing for adulthood.
β’ Build positive and meaningful relationships with children, young people, families, and carers.
β’ Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and statutory documentation.
β’ Work collaboratively with Team Managers, Independent Reviewing Officers, education providers, health professionals, and other partner agencies.
β’ Contribute to effective multi-agency working and ensure statutory timescales are met.
β’ Support unaccompanied asylum-seeking children where required as part of the National Transfer Scheme.
β’ Work closely with Care Experienced Personal Advisors to support positive transition plans for young people approaching adulthood.
Requirements:
β’ Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
β’ Significant experience working with children and families within a statutory social work setting.
β’ Previous experience within a Children in Care Team or strong transferable experience within Children’s Services.
β’ Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice.
β’ Experience in permanence planning, reunification, and supporting children to achieve positive long-term outcomes.
β’ Strong assessment, report writing, and care planning skills.
β’ Ability to manage a varied and complex caseload effectively.
β’ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
β’ Ability to meet statutory timescales and maintain accurate case records.
β’ Commitment to delivering high-quality, child-focused, and relationship-based social work practice.
