About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client in the Isle of Wight for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Fostering Team on a 6-month locum contract, with a strong possibility of extension.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive fostering service and make a real difference to the lives of children, young people, foster carers, and families. Working within a dedicated team, you will undertake a variety of fostering-related assessments, provide supervision to foster carers, and contribute to the recruitment, development, and support of foster families across the local authority.

The role offers hybrid working; however, assessments and foster carer supervision will be carried out face-to-face as required.

Key Responsibilities:
• Undertake a range of fostering assessments, including Risk Assessments, Adult Assessments, and Children’s Assessments
• Provide face-to-face and verbal supervision of foster carers in accordance with local authority requirements
• Support the Marketing and Recruitment Officer with the recruitment of foster carers and attendance at promotional events
• Deliver training sessions relating to foster care practice, foster carer development, child development, and relevant legislation
• Arrange and facilitate support groups for foster carers and other stakeholders
• Undertake statutory work for both children and adults where required
• Manage safeguarding concerns, assess risk, and intervene appropriately to achieve positive outcomes
• Deliver planned interventions using evidence-based social work methodologies
• Maintain accurate records and reports in line with statutory and organisational requirements

Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker
• Current Social Work England registration
• Previous fostering experience
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, and fostering legislation
• Experience undertaking complex assessments and supporting foster carers
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred
