About the Role:

We are currently recruiting on behalf of Telford & Wrekin Council for an experienced Senior Social Worker – Family Safeguarding to join their supportive and forward-thinking team on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced children’s social worker to manage a varied and complex caseload while helping to safeguard children, strengthen families, and achieve positive outcomes. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, child-focused social work practice, undertaking assessments, leading interventions, managing risk, and working collaboratively with partner agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse and complex caseload, undertaking assessments, care planning, and interventions.
• Assess and manage risk, making informed, evidence-based decisions, including contributing to safeguarding and court proceedings.
• Apply relevant legislation, statutory guidance, policies, and best practice to deliver effective, child-focused services.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with children, families, carers, and multi-agency partners.
• Deliver a range of targeted interventions, regularly reviewing outcomes and adapting plans where required.
• Maintain accurate case records and prepare high-quality reports, including court documentation where required.
• Undertake preventative and restorative work to reduce risk and support families to achieve positive outcomes.
• Contribute to effective multi-agency working and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work qualification.
• Current Social Work England registration.
• Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Experience working with children and families, including safeguarding, assessments, and care planning.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
• Strong knowledge of children’s social care legislation, policies, and statutory frameworks.
• Excellent communication, assessment, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, child-centred social work practice.
