About the Role:

We’re currently recruiting for an experienced and committed Qualified Social Worker to join Halton Council’s Children in Care (CIC) Team.

The successful candidate will manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after, ensuring their needs are appropriately assessed and that they receive the right support, care and intervention to achieve positive outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children’s Social Worker who is passionate about safeguarding, promoting children’s welfare and ensuring that the voice, wishes and feelings of children and young people remain central to social work practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after
• Complete comprehensive assessments, care plans and statutory reviews
• Promote the welfare, safety and best interests of children and young people
• Ensure children and young people’s voices, wishes and feelings remain central to practice
• Work collaboratively with children, young people, families, foster carers and other professionals
• Develop and review effective care plans to meet individual needs and achieve positive outcomes
• Prepare high-quality reports and maintain accurate, timely and up-to-date case records
• Attend and contribute effectively to relevant meetings, statutory reviews and multi-agency discussions
• Work in accordance with safeguarding procedures, legislation and local policies
• Identify and respond appropriately to risks and safeguarding concerns
• Work closely with partner agencies to ensure coordinated support for children and young people
• Advocate for the needs and rights of children and young people in care
• Promote stability, safety, wellbeing and positive outcomes for children and young people

Requirements:

• Recognised Social Work qualification
• Current Social Work England (SWE) registration
• Previous experience working within Children’s Social Care
• Experience working with Children in Care / Looked-After Children is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, assessments and care planning
• Good understanding of relevant children’s social care legislation and statutory responsibilities
• Excellent communication, recording and report-writing skills
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with children, young people, families and carers
• Experience working effectively within a multi-agency environment
• Ability to manage a complex caseload and prioritise competing demands
• Strong organisational, analytical and decision-making skills
• Commitment to child-centred and outcome-focused practice
