About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Early Help Practitioner to join their supportive Early Help Service in Darlington on a locum temporary contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children, young people, and families by delivering targeted interventions, coordinating multi-agency support, and promoting positive outcomes through early intervention.
Please note: Applicants must be a Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Work in partnership with children, young people, families, and professionals to deliver targeted Early Help interventions.
β’ Act as Lead Professional where required, coordinating support packages and chairing Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings.
β’ Complete assessments, develop intervention plans, and provide direct support to families experiencing:
β’ Domestic abuse
β’ Mental health difficulties
β’ Substance misuse
β’ Family conflict
β’ Child exploitation
β’ Trauma
β’ School attendance and engagement issues
β’ Deliver intensive practical support, advice, and guidance, referring families to specialist services where appropriate.
β’ Facilitate group sessions for children, young people, and parents within Family Hubs and the local community.
β’ Maintain accurate and timely case records using the electronic case management system.
β’ Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes for children and families.
β’ Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met in line with local policies and child protection procedures.
Requirements:
β’ Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration (essential).
β’ Previous experience working within Early Help, Children’s Services, Family Support, or a similar statutory setting.
β’ Strong assessment, intervention planning, and multi-agency working skills.
β’ Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
β’ Sound knowledge of safeguarding legislation and child protection procedures.
β’ Enhanced DBS Certificate (or willingness to undertake one).
