About the Role:
Supply Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician Level 3 to join their Transport Services team in North London.
This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of council vehicles, plant, and equipment. You will support the Workshop Manager in ensuring all maintenance and repair activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and in compliance with legal regulations, manufacturer standards, and operational targets.
The successful candidate will contribute to delivering a high-quality transport workshop service while helping to ensure the council’s fleet remains safe, roadworthy, and fully compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect, diagnose, service, maintain, and repair council vehicles, third-party vehicles, plant machinery, and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Ensure all fleet maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with relevant legislation and manufacturer recommendations.
• Identify faults and defects affecting vehicle safety, performance, and roadworthiness and report findings appropriately.
• Prepare written and verbal condition reports following inspections and diagnostics.
• Support compliance with the council’s Operator’s Licence, transport legislation, and internal performance standards.
• Promote continuous improvement and a “right first time” culture within the workshop.
• Undertake MOT testing duties as a designated VOSA MOT Nominated Tester for Class 4, 5, and 7 vehicles.
• Liaise with members of the public regarding MOT bookings, test results, and vehicle defects.
• Process MOT-related documentation and payments in accordance with council procedures.
• Interpret and implement technical service instructions and manufacturer guidance.
• Carry out roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, off-site inspections, and emergency repairs when required.
• Support workshop administration functions and Fleetwave™ operational systems.
• Assist with maintaining accurate maintenance and compliance records.
Requirements:
• Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing commercial vehicles and plant equipment.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Experience carrying out vehicle inspections, servicing, and repairs to legislative standards.
• Knowledge of MOT testing procedures and regulations.
• MOT Tester qualification (Class 4, 5 & 7) desirable.
• Knowledge and practical experience working with electric and hybrid vehicles.
• Understanding of high-voltage vehicle systems and associated safety requirements.
• Knowledge of EV charging infrastructure and public charging networks.
• Understanding of vehicle battery performance analysis and cloud-based diagnostic systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a busy workshop team.
• Full UK Driving Licence (relevant vehicle categories desirable).
