Supply Care Solutions is recruiting on behalf of Herefordshire Council for a Children’s Social Work Manager to join the Assessment & Support Team (South Locality). About the Service

The Assessment & Support Service consists of three locality teams based in Ross-on-Wye, Leominster, and Hereford. Each team includes a Team Manager, Senior Practitioner, Social Workers, and Family Support Workers, ensuring a collaborative and locality-focused approach to supporting children and families.

Herefordshire Council is recognised for its restorative approach to social work, where supportive leadership, professional development, and collaborative working are central to achieving positive outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities

As the Children’s Social Work Manager, you will:

✅ Lead, motivate and manage a team of Social Workers and Family Support Workers.
✅ Allocate and prioritise workloads effectively to ensure timely service delivery.
✅ Provide regular supervision, guidance and professional support to team members.
✅ Oversee high-quality assessments completed within statutory timescales.
✅ Drive service performance while ensuring the welfare of children remains the highest priority.
✅ Promote excellent practice standards and support continuous team development.
✅ Work collaboratively with partner agencies to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.

Essential Requirements

✔ Recognised Social Work qualification (DipSW, CQSW, CSS or equivalent).
✔ Registered with Social Work England.
✔ Minimum 3 years’ post-qualified experience within statutory Children’s Social Care.
✔ Previous Team Manager, supervisory, Senior Practitioner or Advanced Practitioner experience.
✔ Strong assessment, report writing, decision-making and leadership skills.
✔ Excellent knowledge of relevant childcare legislation and safeguarding procedures.
