About the Role:
Connect2Hackney is proud to be recruiting on behalf of the London Borough of Hackney for a Tenancy Investigations Officer to join their high-performing Audit and Anti-Fraud team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced investigator to make a meaningful impact in one of London’s most dynamic and diverse boroughs.

You will provide a comprehensive investigation service into cases of tenancy fraud across the borough, ensuring Hackney’s housing services operate with integrity. You will lead investigations from referral through to conclusion, obtaining robust evidence to support legal action and repossession of misused properties.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a caseload of tenancy fraud investigations independently
• Conduct interviews, take witness statements, and liaise with internal and external partners including the police
• Collect and analyse evidence from multiple systems and sources
• Prepare professional case reports and updates for senior stakeholders
• Deliver fraud awareness training to housing staff
• Ensure compliance with legislation including PACE, RIPA, DPA, HRA, and Council policies

Requirements:
• Recognised qualification in counter fraud (e.g., Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist) or significant experience in tenancy fraud investigations
• Strong knowledge of legislation: Fraud Act, POSHFA, PACE, Housing Acts
• Proven background in investigative or counter-fraud work, ideally within the public sector
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload effectively
• Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends if required
• Enhanced DBS (must be on the Update Service)
