Job Summary:
ASPIRE stands for Adolescent Support in Prevention, Inclusion and Restorative Engagement. The team sits within the Specialist Adolescent Service as part of the Family and Adolescents Directorate. The Service acts as the statutory Youth Justice Service and has a key role to play in diverting children away from the youth justice system; helping prevent offending and re-offending; reducing the use of custody; contributing to multi-agency public protection and safeguarding, and adopting Signs of Safety, trauma-informed, identity development and whole family approaches to youth justice.

The ASPIRE Team Leader will be responsible for leading on restorative practice and interventions to divert children from the criminal justice system and increase their inclusion in mainstream services. You support the development of this practice across Achieving for Children in Kingston and Richmond. This will include implementing an operational framework to ensure key performance indicators are met and ensuring high practice standards are maintained. You will work closely with the other team leaders in the service to support capacity and ensure relevant inspection requirements are met. You will champion participation of victims, young people and parents/carers in the delivery and development of the service.
The ASPIRE Leader will be responsible for overseeing and running the Referral Order Service. This will include recruiting community volunteers and providing them with support and training, assigning members to panels as required and maintaining systems for the efficient organisation of the panels. You will maintain effective partnership working with the key agencies who are delivering or can offer a range of reparation projects.
The postholder will have direct line management of 3-4 staff, overseeing their support for victims of youth crime, violence or bullying, and children experiencing exclusion. You will have matrix management of the
Speech and Language therapist, financial oversight for designated budgets and lead on relevant grant applications and returns. As the Youth Justice landscape evolves and grant funded projects are introduced or exit, other roles and projects may require your oversight and management. This post may cover the Youth Justice Team leader and deputise for the Head of Service at any relevant partnership meetings, particularly in regard to restorative practice, participation and education.
