About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and confident Social Worker – Safeguarding (Children) to join the Ongoing Assessment and Safeguarding (OAS) Service within Northamptonshire Children’s Trust.
The Safeguarding Service manages cases transferred from DAAT at the first Initial Child Protection Conference or Child in Need meeting, continuing to work with families until case closure. Cases escalating to court proceedings or long-term looked-after arrangements are transferred to the Children in Care Teams.
With 15 teams supported by a stable and visible management structure, you’ll benefit from regular supervision, strong on-site presence (2–3 days per week), and leadership from a Strategic Manager with over three years in post and valuable locum experience.
This role offers exposure to a wide range of needs and complex cases, making it ideal for a practitioner passionate about safeguarding and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a varied caseload of safeguarding and child protection cases
• Undertake assessments, care planning, and interventions in line with statutory requirements
• Work closely with children, families, and multi-agency partners to secure positive outcomes
• Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, CIN meetings, and court proceedings where required
• Maintain accurate, timely case records and reports
• Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are consistently applied
Requirements:
• Qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Work England)
• Proven experience in safeguarding and child protection
• Strong communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
• Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent multi-agency working skills
• Enhanced DBS Certificate
