Hourly Rate: £35 (Umbrella)

Contract Duration: 3 months initially, with potential for extension

Location: Hybrid (3 days office-based at Landmark House, Ipswich, and remote for the remaining days)

Role Overview

The MASH Social Worker will work within a high-stakes, fast-paced environment in Suffolk’s Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, collaborating with social care, police, health, and education professionals. This role is integral to evaluating child welfare referrals, assessing risk, and ensuring that necessary actions and interventions are promptly determined and enacted. Key tasks include gathering intelligence, supporting multi-agency decision-making, brokering support services, and maintaining detailed and secure records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Information Gathering and Assessment: Evaluate referrals from social care against Suffolk’s Thresholds Document, utilizing information from multiple agencies to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Risk Assessment: Assess the immediate and ongoing risks to children and families, formulating recommendations for intervention and support in line with safeguarding policies.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Engage effectively with partners from police, health, and education sectors, facilitating comprehensive and rapid information sharing and case assessments.
  • Administration and Record Keeping: Maintain sensitive and detailed records of referrals and assessments in accordance with data protection regulations and local authority standards.
  • Professional Communication: Use clear, accurate, and empathetic communication skills to provide updates, recommendations, and required documentation to stakeholders and families.

Requirements

  • Qualifications:
    • Qualified Social Worker
    • Registration with Social Work England
  • Experience:
    • Proven post-qualification experience in a statutory children’s social care role, ideally in a duty/referral or MASH environment.
  • Skills:
    • Strong judgment and analytical skills for assessing risk and making informed decisions under time constraints.
    • Proficient in relationship-building and multi-agency communication, with a focus on child protection and safeguarding.

Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid Model: 3 days per week office-based at Landmark House, Ipswich, with the flexibility to work remotely for the remaining 2 days.
