About the Role:
We are looking for a Duty Social Worker (DSW), at our service for the disabled children / young people (0-18 years old).
The DSW will be responsible for the following tasks:
- DSW will be on Duty for 2 weeks in a month from Mondays to Fridays with a second DSW and a Back-up DSW everyday while on Duty.
- Duty Tasks will be shared between the DSW and the second DSW daily.
- The DSW will arrange for s.47 investigations including completing Police Form 87A and arranging for Strategy Meetings while on Duty.
- The DSW will be allocated with 14-16 children’s cases for Child & Family Assessments which must be completed within timescales.
- The DSW will refer children / young people on her allocated cases to Specialist Support Panel (SSP) for relevant support services required within timescales.
- The DSW & second DSW will also take phone calls while on Duty and response to issues received on phone calls including referring children/young people to SSP for additional support services, as requested by parents / professionals on the phone.
- DSW will be responsible for stepping cases down once C&F Assessments have been completed and relevant support services offered to the children / young people; and/or close the cases of siblings with no disabilities – if there is no further safeguarding concern and no further social work intervention.
- DSW’s cases that will require long-term social work intervention will be transferred to the long-term social workers.
