About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting children and families?
We’re currently recruiting a Social Care Officer (Family Time Worker) for a vital role within Newcastle Children’s Social Care.

In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting and promoting supervised Family Time sessions between children and their parents or immediate family members. These sessions are crucial to the care and assessment process—helping maintain meaningful family bonds in a safe, structured, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate and supervise Family Time sessions for children and their families
• Provide advice, guidance, and encouragement to ensure sessions are safe, positive, and child-focused
• Observe, record, and report on family interactions to support ongoing assessments
• Work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, schools, and other professionals
• Transport children to and from Family Time sessions across Newcastle
• Support children and families who may present with emotional or challenging behaviours in a compassionate, professional manner

Requirements:
• Experience working with vulnerable children and families is highly desirable
• Strong communication and observational skills
• Ability to work sensitively and effectively in emotionally charged environments
• A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel within Newcastle
