About the Role:

We are currently recruiting on behalf of Telford & Wrekin Council for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team on a locum basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive and progressive service, managing a varied and complex caseload while helping to safeguard children, strengthen families, and achieve positive long-term outcomes. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality social work practice, undertaking assessments, leading interventions, and working collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure children remain safe and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse and complex caseload, undertaking assessments, care planning, and interventions.
• Assess and manage risk, making informed, evidence-based decisions while contributing to safeguarding and court proceedings.
• Apply relevant legislation, statutory guidance, policies, and best practice to deliver effective, child-centred services.
• Build positive and professional relationships with children, families, carers, and multi-agency partners.
• Deliver targeted interventions, regularly review progress, and adapt plans to achieve the best possible outcomes.
• Maintain accurate case records and prepare high-quality reports, including court documentation where required.
• Undertake preventative and restorative work to reduce risk and promote family resilience.
• Contribute to effective multi-agency working and continuous service improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Experience working within Children’s Social Care, including safeguarding, assessments, and care planning.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound, evidence-based decisions.
• Strong knowledge of relevant children’s legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent communication, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
• Commitment to delivering high-quality, child-focused practice.
