About the Role:
Walsall Council is seeking an experienced and committed Senior Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality safeguarding practice within a supportive and reflective service. The role offers an attractive hourly rate and flexible hybrid working arrangements, enabling you to balance both office-based work and working from home.
The Family Safeguarding Team plays a crucial role in supporting vulnerable children and families through a strengths-based, multi-disciplinary model. As a Senior Social Worker, you will manage a varied and sometimes complex caseload, carry out robust assessments, and ensure timely and effective safeguarding interventions that prioritise the welfare of the child.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Undertake child protection work, including Section 47 enquiries
β’ Complete comprehensive assessments and create robust safety plans
β’ Draft high-quality reports for court and statutory meetings
β’ Work collaboratively with specialist professionals including domestic abuse workers, mental health practitioners and substance misuse teams
β’ Build resilience within families using a strengths-based approach
β’ Ensure all practice complies with legislative frameworks and local/national safeguarding procedures
β’ Manage your caseload effectively while making confident, evidence-based decisions
β’ Participate in reflective supervision and contribute to a positive team culture
Requirements:
β’ Social Work England registered
β’ Experience within statutory safeguarding services
β’ Strong analytical, assessment and decision-making skills
β’ Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
β’ A car driver with access to own vehicle
β’ Excellent communication and report-writing ability
