Rate: £35.89 per hour (Umbrella)

Hours: 18.5 hours per week

About the Role

Shropshire Council is seeking an experienced Senior Safeguarding Practitioner to join our Adults Safeguarding Team on a part-time, temporary basis. This role is crucial in leading adult safeguarding processes, ensuring compliance with the Care Act 2014, and supporting vulnerable adults across the county.

This is a hybrid working position, requiring a mix of office-based and remote working.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and direct safeguarding enquiries into adult protection issues. 
• Chair safeguarding meetings and ensure robust risk assessments.
• Implement protection plans to reduce risk for vulnerable adults. 
• Apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 within safeguarding processes.
• Ensure a person-centred approach, in line with Making Safeguarding Personal principles.
• Write detailed reports with accuracy and clarity.
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including CQC and health professionals.

Essential Criteria

• Proven experience in directing adult safeguarding enquiries.
• Strong knowledge of post-Care Act 2014 safeguarding processes.
• Ability to identify and mitigate risks to adults with care and support needs. 
• Skilled in chairing safeguarding meetings and instigating protection plans.
• In-depth understanding of Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, and Care Act.
• Strong report writing and IT skills.
• Experience of working in emotionally charged situations with service users and families.

Desirable Criteria

• Completion of relevant adult safeguarding training courses.
• Experience within the criminal justice system.
• Previous management or supervisory experience.
