Position: Full-Time, 37 hours per week
Hourly Rate: £33.30 per hour
Hybrid Working: 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home/visiting families

Shropshire County Council is seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Children’s Social Worker to join our Care Management Team. About the Role:

Working within the Case Management Team, you will have a varied caseload, providing you with a well-rounded experience as you work with families who need help and support. Your focus will be on Child in Need and Child Protection Plans, as well as families involved in Public Law Outline (PLO) and court cases, including children who are looked after. This role offers a chance to be involved in complex cases and ensures children’s safety and well-being throughout.

As a Senior Social Worker, you will be responsible for supporting children and families through critical decisions, with the opportunity to help guide cases through to permanency—whether this is through closure, step-down to Early Help, adoption, or transferring to the Looked After Children teams. You’ll also build strong relationships with multi-agency partners, playing an essential role in identifying interventions that provide the best support for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

Case management: Manage a diverse caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection Plans, along with children involved in PLO and court proceedings.

Permanency planning: Support families through to permanency, including closure, adoption, or transfer to the Looked After Children teams.

Collaborative working: Engage with a variety of partners, ensuring children and families receive the appropriate interventions and support.

Child safety and well-being: Ensure children are safe, supported, and happy long-term by identifying needs and coordinating interventions. 

Professional development: Gain well-rounded experience in a supportive environment, with strong management backing and opportunities for personal growth.

What We Are Looking For: 

• A qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration and significant experience working with children and families.
• Expertise in Child in Need, Child Protection Plans, and Court work.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• A passion for improving the lives of children and families, with a focus on delivering positive outcomes.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and work flexibly in a hybrid model (2 days in the office, 3 days WFH/visiting families).
