About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Locum Residential Assistant to join our team on a temporary, as-needed basis. You will work within a residential/short break service for adults, providing high-quality support and care to individuals in a respectful and person-centred manner. Shift patterns include:

• AM Shift: 07:00 – 14:30
• PM Shift: 14:00 – 21:30

This is a flexible, part-time role, and induction and training are fully provided and paid. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a transformative shift in adult social care, promoting independence, prevention, early intervention, and safeguarding.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have experience in a social care setting and be committed to delivering excellent, compassionate care. You must have the ability to work as part of a team, be flexible, reliable, and always put the needs and dignity of the individuals you support first. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

• Support and Empowerment: Assist individuals to reach their optimum independence and maintain control in their daily lives, following the care plan.
• Personal Care: Provide support with personal care, medication administration, meal preparation, and laundry.
• Social Engagement: Encourage participation in social and leisure activities, including community access, college classes, and resource centres.
• Wellbeing Monitoring: Observe emotional and physical well-being, ensuring protection from abuse and reporting any concerns to senior managers.
• Promote Choice and Dignity: Respect the privacy and dignity of individuals, offering choices in line with care plans and key documents.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience

• Educational Requirements: Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE) or equivalent by experience, with a willingness to complete relevant qualifications within 24 months of starting the role.
• Experience: Prior experience working within a social care environment and as part of a team.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and develop rapport with a diverse range of individuals.
• Experience with Adults with Disabilities (Preferred): Some experience or a desire to work with adults with disabilities.
• Knowledge of Care Principles: Understanding of a person-centred approach, safeguarding, and the legislation concerning vulnerable adults, mental capacity, and other relevant policies.
• Willingness to Train: Willing to undertake training in areas such as Manual Handling, First Aid, Food Hygiene, Risk and Conflict Management, Data Protection, and Health and Safety.
