Salary: £22.25 per hour
About the Role:
Camden Council is seeking a dedicated Rent Service Officer to join our busy Rent Service Team. In this role, you will be responsible for maximising rent and arrears collection by managing a designated patch of residential and non-residential accounts. You will ensure strict adherence to the Pre-Court Action Protocol, work towards collection targets, and provide advice and referrals to support agencies for vulnerable residents. Additionally, you will help identify and implement best practices for arrears recovery within the team.
This is a hybrid role, allowing a balance of remote and office-based working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively manage rent arrears cases to maximise collection and minimise debt.
- Ensure compliance with legal and procedural housing management practices.
- Engage with residents, offering support and referrals where needed.
- Handle difficult conversations with professionalism, whether over the phone or face-to-face.
- Work efficiently under pressure, meeting all deadlines and key performance indicators.
- Identify and implement best practices for arrears recovery.
Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge of housing law, rent arrears collection methods, and experience using Northgate.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to deal effectively with challenging customers.
- Proven experience in rent arrears management within a customer-focused organisation.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet service targets.
- Strong numerical skills and proficiency in Northgate and other office software packages.
- A team player who is flexible and willing to provide cover as needed.
