About the Role:
We are recruiting an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Children in Care (CIC) Team at Halton Borough Council. This role focuses on supporting young people aged 16–18 as they transition to independence or leaving care services. You will be part of a supportive and established team committed to achieving positive outcomes for looked-after children and care leavers.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a caseload of young people aged 16–18 within the Children in Care pathway
• Undertake statutory visits, reviews, and care planning in line with legislation and local procedures
• Work collaboratively with Personal Advisors, IROs, education providers, housing, health services, and other professionals
• Ensure young people are prepared for leaving care by promoting participation in pathway planning and decision-making
• Carry out comprehensive assessments and prepare court reports as necessary
• Safeguard and review risk management plans
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on the local authority’s case management system

Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualified experience within children’s social care (CIC/Leaving Care preferred)
• At least 3 years’ permanent experience in the sector
• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations, and Leaving Care Guidance (2010)
• Experience working with older adolescents (16–18) and supporting their transition into adulthood
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
