Role Overview

Torbay Council is seeking an experienced and skilled Social Worker for their Safeguarding Operational Services team. The role focuses on delivering high-quality safeguarding services, including statutory visits and assessments for families. The ideal candidate will be an experienced social worker with a strong background in safeguarding and operational practice, who can confidently handle complex cases and provide effective intervention strategies to support and protect vulnerable individuals and families.

Key Responsibilities

• Duty System Participation: Actively participate in the duty system, providing essential support to the team and managing cases in line with statutory requirements.
• Family Visits: Conduct regular and statutory visits to families, assessing their needs, evaluating risk, and ensuring the safety and well-being of children and vulnerable adults.
• Statutory Compliance: Complete statutory visits and ensure that all interactions and interventions comply with legal standards and council policies.
• Case Management: Manage a caseload of complex cases, using professional judgment to make informed decisions that prioritize safeguarding and the best interests of those involved.
• Flexible Working Arrangements: Be flexible with working hours and location, with the expectation to attend the office as required for duties, meetings, and collaborative case work.

Requirements

• Qualifications:
  • Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.
• Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience in safeguarding and operational social work.
  • Strong background in conducting statutory visits, assessments, and working with families in need of intervention.
• Skills:
  • Excellent risk assessment skills and the ability to manage complex cases independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective family engagement and multi-agency collaboration.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent and changing case needs, including willingness to work on-site as required.
