About the Role:
We’re delighted to be recruiting on behalf of Brent Council for an experienced and enthusiastic Nursery Practitioner to join the team at Willows Children’s Centre. This role is ideal for someone passionate about delivering high-quality early years care and education within a supportive and inclusive environment.
Shifts may fall between 8:00am–6:00pm, with the following options available:
• 8am–4pm
• 9am–3pm
• 9am–5pm
• 10am–6pm
Other arrangements may be explored depending on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
• Support the delivery of high-quality early education and integrated day care in line with EYFS.
• Work under the guidance of senior nursery staff to support individual and group learning.
• Take responsibility for a small key group of children, ensuring access to a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
• Attend to children’s personal care needs, including hygiene, first aid and general welfare.
• Maintain a safe, stimulating environment that reflects and celebrates diversity.
• Foster children’s physical, social, emotional and intellectual development, including those with SEND.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents and carers, acting as a role model.
• Support learning through play, structured activities, exploration and conversation.
• Observe, monitor and record children’s progress, maintaining Learning Journeys.
• Provide detailed feedback to parents/carers regarding achievements and concerns.
• Promote positive behaviour in line with centre policies.
• Prepare and maintain resources, equipment and ICT to support learning.
• Supervise and support indoor and outdoor activities.
• Contribute to food and hygiene standards, prepare snacks, serve meals and support lunch duties (staff lunch provided when supervising).
• Accompany staff and children on trips, supervising small groups.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues and external professionals.
• Participate in training, development and meetings as required.
• Follow procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
• Ensure all children have equal access to learning in an inclusive environment.
• Carry out any other duties delegated by senior nursery staff.
Requirements:
• Experience working within a nursery, childcare or EYFS setting.
• Strong understanding of early years development and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Ability to build positive, professional relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive, nurturing learning environment.
