💰 Pay Rate: £239 per day PAYE / £307 per day via umbrella
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Locum Team Manager to join Essex County Council’s Adult Social Care service on a full-time, temporary basis. This role sits within the Discharge to Assess Team, focusing on the safe and timely discharge of adults from hospital and enabling recovery in the least restrictive setting.
You will work closely with NHS partners and care providers to reduce readmission risk and promote independence.
As a Team Manager, you will provide operational leadership and practice supervision, ensuring the team consistently delivers high-quality, strengths-based, and legally compliant social work. You will also serve as a point of escalation for complex casework, support staff development, and ensure performance standards are met.
You will represent the team in multi-agency forums and contribute to the strategic delivery of services aimed at improving outcomes, preventing hospital readmissions, and strengthening early intervention and safeguarding efforts.
Key Requirements
• Demonstrable experience managing social work teams, preferably in a hospital discharge or D2A setting
• In-depth understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and adult social care legislation
• Proven ability to lead in a multidisciplinary environment, engaging with health partners and other agencies
• Excellent communication and leadership skills with a strengths-based and outcome-focused approach
• Ability to handle complex casework and provide professional oversight across the team
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced, evolving service with a strong focus on independence and prevention
