About the Role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated Locum Social Worker to join the Young People with Disabilities Mid Team within the Children and Family Support Services (CFS) at Essex County Council. This position is based at County Hall, Chelmsford, and covers the Mid Essex area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with disabilities (0–17 years) and their families. You’ll be part of a vibrant and supportive multidisciplinary team committed to improving outcomes and driving forward SEND reforms.

About the Service:

Our CFS division includes:

• Children with Disabilities Teams
• Young People with Disabilities Teams
• Child and Family Support Services Teams
• Occupational Therapy Teams
• Core Service Development Team

We are currently undergoing an exciting phase of service improvement and development, with a focus on delivering positive, person-centred outcomes for families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with children and young people with disabilities aged 0–17 and their families
• Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and deliver interventions under key legislation including:
• Children Act 1989 & 2004
• Children and Families Act 2014
• Care Act 2014
• Mental Capacity Act 2005
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, holistic support 

What We’re Looking For:

• Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration (e.g., Social Work England)
• Experience working with children and/or young people with disabilities
• Strong knowledge of social care legislation and safeguarding procedures
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work independently in a field-based role
