🧩 About the Role

We’re seeking a Homelessness & Housing Solutions Officer to join the team at Redditch Borough Council. In this pivotal role, you will deliver a specialist homelessness and housing service, focusing on prevention and relief duties under the Housing Act and the Homelessness Reduction Act. With a flexible working arrangement (2 days on-site), you’ll manage complex cases and help some of the most vulnerable people in the community access stable housing solutions.

📌 Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert, customer-focused advice on housing options, with awareness of equality and diversity

• Manage a caseload of homelessness applications, applying current legislation and case law

• Coordinate and monitor temporary accommodation placements in accordance with legal duties

• Build and maintain strong relationships with private landlords to expand housing options

• Prepare clear, accurate case files and reports in line with regulatory and financial standards

• Work closely with internal departments and external agencies to deliver holistic support

✅ Requirements

• Demonstrable experience in homelessness or housing options services

• In-depth knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017

• Strong analytical, communication, and case management skills

• Ability to make sound legal decisions in a fast-paced environment

• Proven teamwork skills and a solution-oriented approach

• Right to work in the UK (e.g., Passport or Share Code)

• National Insurance number
