About the Role:
Walsall Council is seeking an experienced Homeless Officer to join the Housing and Welfare Office on a full-time basis. This role is essential in delivering a customer-focused housing options service to individuals and families at risk of homelessness. The position involves both remote and office-based work and requires strong knowledge of housing legislation to make effective decisions that improve lives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver comprehensive and high-quality housing options services to applicants
• Apply in-depth knowledge of Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 to conduct assessments and make informed decisions
• Negotiate with landlords, agencies, and families to identify the best housing solutions for our customers
• Assess emergency housing needs and arrange suitable temporary accommodation placements
• Maintain accurate records and manage a caseload to ensure excellent service delivery

Requirements:
• Proven experience in a housing-related role, particularly homelessness
• Strong knowledge of Part 6 and Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team, with a focus on delivering outstanding customer service
• Availability to work from the Civic Centre on duty days
