About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Group Accountant to join the Joint Finance Unit in Bolton. This hybrid role involves providing strategic financial support and overseeing a dynamic accounting team to ensure compliance, accuracy, and financial excellence across all operations.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the team in delivering accurate budget monitoring, estimates, statutory returns, and final accounts
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, accounting standards, and codes of practice
• Liaise effectively with internal/external auditors and resolve financial irregularities
• Develop cost-saving initiatives and produce analytical financial reports
• Lead due diligence, budgeting, and accounting for new projects, tenders, and services
• Collaborate with services to explore strategic financial options and deliver proactive solutions
• Act as a key liaison with Government Departments, other Councils, and external agencies

Requirements:
• Fully qualified accountant (e.g., CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Proven local authority finance experience
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills
• Sound knowledge of public sector accounting regulations and practices
• Eligibility to work in the UK
