About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Gardener to work for a local authority based in the North West Region.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and reliable individual with grounds maintenance and horticultural experience to join a busy environmental services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of gardening, landscaping, and grounds maintenance duties across the borough while maintaining high standards of health and safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work on your own initiative with minimal supervision
• Maintain operational records and documentation and submit them promptly to the Team Leader
• Take responsibility for the security of vehicles, machinery, materials, and fuel allocated to you
• Effectively operate the full range of grass cutting equipment and powered hand tools utilised by the service
• Undertake grounds maintenance and horticultural tasks including:
• Sports pitch overmarking
• Maintenance of flower, rose, and shrub beds
• Herbaceous border maintenance
• Formal lawn maintenance
• Soft and hard landscaping
• Pruning and hedge cutting
• Support policies, procedures, legislation, and good practice, particularly regarding Health and Safety
• Help resolve day-to-day enquiries, complaints, and operational issues
• Provide an “eyes and ears” service by reporting issues such as blocked gullies, fly tipping, and anti-social behaviour through the appropriate reporting procedures

Requirements:
• Previous grounds maintenance or horticultural experience
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience operating grass cutting equipment and powered hand tools
• Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Full UK Driving Licence preferred
• PA1, PA6, and Quad (PA2) certificates desirable
