About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has become available to join Central Bedfordshire Council’s Fostering Service as a Supervising & Assessing Social Worker. This rewarding role offers the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of children and families by supporting safe, stable, and nurturing foster placements.

Working within a supportive and experienced fostering team, you will supervise and support mainstream foster carers, contribute to care planning, and help ensure positive outcomes for children and young people.

This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement requiring a minimum of 2 office days per week depending on business needs.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support and supervise mainstream foster carers
• Lead on foster carers’ annual reviews
• Provide guidance, advice, and support to foster carers to ensure high standards of care
• Work collaboratively with children’s social workers and partner agencies
• Contribute to effective care planning and permanency planning
• Prepare high-quality reports for fostering panels and reviews
• Maintain accurate case records and documentation
• Promote positive outcomes for children and young people in foster care
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and service development activities

Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Experience within statutory social work
• Strong report-writing and assessment skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
• Ability to work collaboratively with partner agencies and multidisciplinary teams
• Competent IT and case management system skills
• Organised, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities effectively
• Experience within fostering services would be advantageous but is not essential
