About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for a Family Contact Worker to join Manchester City Council. This is a full-time position working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday (9:00am – 6:00pm). The role focuses on supervising and facilitating family time for looked after children and their families, while providing observations, guidance, and support. You will work across the city supporting district social workers, so access to a car with business-use insurance is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
• Facilitate, supervise, and observe family contact sessions, including setting up arrangements and supporting both children and parents
• Undertake observation and assessment of supervised contact visits in line with agreed care plans
• Contribute to the ongoing assessment of children and families in need and those at risk of harm
• Accurately record all contact sessions and collaborate with social workers to monitor review action plans
• Manage and respond to behavioural or emotional issues arising during contact visits
• Ensure all child contact records are complete, accurate, and accessible to the wider team

Requirements:
• Demonstrable understanding of child protection procedures and relevant social care legislation
• Experience contributing to assessments using recognised frameworks
• Ability to deliver contact sessions in line with care plans and support families effectively
• Strong communication and observational reporting skills
• Commitment to continuous professional development and service improvement
• Enhanced DBS certificate (registered on the Update Service)
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with business-use insurance
