About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and confident Decision Maker to join the Northamptonshire Children’s Trust Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team. This part-time position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and young people across the county.
As a Decision Maker, you will be responsible for triaging referrals, applying statutory thresholds, and providing clear guidance to MASH Officers. This role is static only, with no home visits required.
Working Pattern:
• Wednesday: 1:30pm start (afternoon only)
• Thursday: 9am – 5pm
• Friday: 9am – 5pm
Key Responsibilities:
• Make threshold recommendations for cases referred to MASH
• Carry out MASH enquiries, including direct contact with parents and agencies
• Provide clear and timely direction to MASH Officers (call handlers)
• Apply child protection thresholds to ensure safeguarding standards are met
• Mentor, supervise, and support the induction and development of MASH Officers
• Audit casework, implement learning, and ensure quality assurance
• Collaborate with internal teams and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, equal opportunities, and HCPC standards
Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Strong knowledge of child protection and children’s social care
• Demonstrated ability to make swift, informed safeguarding decisions
• Skilled in multi-agency collaboration and effective leadership
• Available to work the part-time pattern outlined above
• Enhanced DBS Certificate (must be registered on the Update Service)
