About the Role
We’re excited to collaborate with a Local Authority in the Greater Manchester area seeking a Court & Locality Social Worker to work within Children’s Services at Manchester City Council – Court & Locality Service.
The team works with children who are subject to Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings. The successful candidate will have experience managing such cases, with skills in completing assessments, producing care and safety plans, and building relationships with children and their families to support timely permanence planning.
You’ll be joining a team of six social workers, including two advanced practitioners and a team manager. The role offers monthly supervision and access to training. It is mainly office-based, though home working can be agreed with the team manager to support healthy team development, peer support, and management oversight.
There is free car parking available within a few minutes’ walk of the office.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage CIN, Child Protection, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings cases
• Complete assessments and care/safety plans
• Build strong relationships with children and families
• Support timely permanence planning
• Engage in supervision and training opportunities
Requirements
• Qualified Social Work degree (BA or MA) or equivalent
• Registration with Social Work England
• Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in child protection, court work, care planning, or similar

• Proof of right to work in the UK (Passport, Visa, Biometric Card, etc.)
• National Insurance Number
• Valid DBS Certificate
