Pay Rate: Umbrella – Up to £29.00 per hour

Darlington’s Children with Disabilities Team are looking to appoint an experienced Social Worker to work within the team.

The Children with Disabilities team works with children aged 0-17. The successful candidate should have experience of working within a disabled children’s team or similar, and needs to be an experienced Social Worker.

The successful candidate will carry out duties and tasks associated with the role and ensure all assessments undertaken are Children’s Act compliant, based on clear accurate information and analysis, reflect the principles of both strength-based and person-centred approaches and are outcome focused.

Application of the Local Authority Eligibility Criteria will be required when completing assessments to ensure that young people who require support from the service are identified. The successful candidate will carry out their work ensuring that the Local Authority statutory responsibilities for children and young people aged 0-17 with Special Education Needs and/or disabilities are discharged effectively, as outlined in the Code of Practice, the Children and Families Act 2014 and other relevant legislation.

They will support the development of the Local SEN Offer, identifying and filling gaps in the provision of services, whilst continually developing new ways to improve and promote a graduated response to SEN/disabilities in Darlington.

They will safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people for whom you have responsibility, or with whom you come into contact, to include adhering to all specified procedures. The post will initially be for 4 months. Darlington offers a blended working approach where staff can work from the office when required or on duty days, or from their own home base. Laptop, mobile and personal safety device will be provided.
