Job Description:

Telford and Wrekin Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Social Worker to join our dynamic Children’s Services team. This exciting role offers the opportunity to manage a caseload with varying levels of complexity while providing critical support to children and families within the community.

As a Children’s Social Worker, you will be responsible for:

• Managing a caseload: Lead on complex assessments and provide evidence as necessary in court proceedings.
• Exercising high-quality judgement: Work in situations of increasing complexity, risk, uncertainty, and challenge, acting with confidence and autonomy to deliver effective social work practice.
• Effective assessment and intervention: Demonstrate the ability to assess situations, determine appropriate interventions, and anticipate possible progress without pre-judging.
• Integrating professional knowledge: Incorporate research, evaluation evidence, and the views of service users to inform your practice.
• Taking initiative: Develop and expand your knowledge and skills, proactively applying them to improve outcomes for children and families.
• Expertise in practice: Develop expertise in one or more areas of practice, linking into local and national resource networks to provide the best support available.

Key Skills and Experience:

• Experience in Children’s Services: Proven experience in managing complex cases and conducting assessments.
• Strong analytical skills: The ability to evaluate situations effectively and use judgement in decision-making.
• Autonomy and confidence: Work independently while managing a challenging caseload with professional autonomy.
• Expert knowledge: Expertise in specific areas of social work practice and an understanding of local and national resources.
• Effective communication skills: Ability to communicate and collaborate with children, families, and professionals in a range of contexts.
