About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Children’s Service Manager to join the Adolescent Safeguarding Team in the West Midlands. This is an exciting secondment opportunity to support service improvement and performance within Adolescent Safeguarding at a pivotal stage of development.

Children’s Services have implemented Family Safeguarding Practice, a strengths-based, whole-family approach to child protection. This model brings together multi-disciplinary professionals from children’s and adult services to work intensively with families, reducing the number of children entering care or becoming subject to child protection planning.

Family Safeguarding shifts the focus from compliance monitoring to meaningful engagement with families through Motivational Interviewing, a person-centred, therapeutic approach designed to support sustainable change.

The Adolescent Safeguarding Service continues to embed and strengthen this model in practice. Additional resourcing has been secured to drive improvement, performance, and practice development across the service.

As Service Improvement Service Manager, you will play a key leadership role—driving performance, embedding family safeguarding principles, and ensuring the voice of the child and family-led decision-making are central to all planning. You will lead with creativity and innovation to deliver child-centred outcomes that keep young people safe.

Key Responsibilities:
• Service management oversight of care planning and care plans for children
• Strategic leadership to support service development and continuous improvement
• Oversight of MACE and exploitation panels and responses
• Management support and supervision to Team Managers and Senior Managers
• Oversight and support of legal pathways for children open within the service
• Driving practice improvement through strong management oversight
• Supporting the relaunch and embedding of Family Safeguarding principles within adolescent safeguarding
• Supporting OFSTED preparedness and service readiness

Requirements:
• Proven experience at Service Manager level within Children’s Social Care
• Strong track record of partnership development and multi-agency working
• Demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams to achieve positive outcomes
• Experience managing resources and budgets effectively
• In-depth knowledge of safeguarding, adolescent practice, and exploitation frameworks
