Rugby Council is dedicated to delivering high-quality services to our local community. We are currently looking for a passionate and skilled Benefits Officer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to supporting residents with essential benefits, including Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Financial Support.

Role Overview:
As a Benefits Officer, you will be responsible for assessing claims for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Financial Support schemes, including Homeless Prevention Grants. You will work closely with residents to provide support, advice, and resolve any queries they may have. Your expertise will help ensure residents receive the benefits they are entitled to.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and process claims for Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Financial Support.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies governing Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Homeless Prevention Grants.
• Provide accurate advice and assistance to residents, answering queries through a variety of communication channels.
• Manage caseloads efficiently while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
• Use Civica OpenRevs to process claims and manage customer accounts.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Thorough understanding of legislation governing Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, and Discretionary Financial Support schemes.
• Previous experience assessing claims for Housing Benefit and/or Council Tax Reduction.
• Proficient in using Civica OpenRevs or similar systems.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across diverse demographics.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload in a timely and efficient manner.
