About the Role:
We are currently working with Walsall Council to recruit an experienced Assurance & Improvement Officer to support service quality and continuous improvement within Adult Social Care. Working closely with the Assurance & Business Manager, you will play a key role in strengthening quality assurance frameworks, ensuring services are compliant, inspection-ready, and delivering consistently high standards.
This role will involve supporting assurance systems, overseeing audit and data monitoring activity, and contributing to governance and reporting at corporate, regional, and national levels. It is a dynamic opportunity for a professional with strong analytical and organisational capability who can drive meaningful service improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Work in partnership with the Assurance & Business Manager to strengthen quality and continuous improvement across Adult Social Care
β’ Support the Assurance and Improvement Team to embed, monitor, and develop robust quality assurance systems
β’ Ensure services are compliant, inspection-ready, and meeting high standards
β’ Drive service improvement through effective resource and project management
β’ Contribute to assurance activity and compliance with corporate, regional, and national reporting requirements
β’ Oversee data monitoring, audit activity, and wider business processes to support governance and continuous learning
Requirements:
β’ Strong generic business support skills, including management of evidence banks, web pages, and procedural documentation
β’ Knowledge or previous experience within Adult Social Care, ideally in a Local Authority setting
β’ Sound understanding of organisational procedures, policies, and governance frameworks
β’ Ability to make decisions independently, using initiative while recognising when to escalate issues
β’ Proven experience supporting service development, performance management, and modernisation initiatives
β’ Demonstrated ability to drive innovation, continuous improvement, and positive change
β’ Good understanding of legal, commercial, political, operational, and social factors within complex environments
β’ Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information

Additional Information:
β’ Hours: 37 hours per week
β’ Monday β Thursday: 8:45am β 5:15pm (1-hour unpaid break)
β’ Friday: 8:45am β 4:45pm (1-hour unpaid break)
β’ Working pattern: Hybrid (2 days from home, office days to be agreed)
β’ Duration: 3 months temporary assignment
