About the Role:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Advanced Youth Offending Service Officer to join a well-established Youth Justice and Targeted Prevention Service (YJTPS). This role involves managing a complex youth justice caseload, including out-of-court disposals and statutory court orders, in line with National Standards and the HMIP Inspection Framework.
The post is underpinned by a strong commitment to the Child First, Offender Second approach, with a focus on trauma-informed, strengths-based practice.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Manage a complex caseload of youth justice cases, ensuring high-quality assessment, planning, intervention, and review
β’ Support children and young people to successfully complete their disposals or court orders and progress towards a crime-free future
β’ Communicate effectively with children and young people, families, and internal and external partners to achieve positive outcomes
β’ Embed equality of opportunity and anti-discriminatory practice throughout all areas of work
β’ Use AssetPlus as the primary assessment and planning framework, incorporating trauma-informed practice, desistance factors, and foundations for change
β’ Work collaboratively with families and partner agencies to deliver evidence-based group and individual interventions
β’ Reduce risks of offending, re-offending, and disengagement from education, employment, or training
β’ Prepare Pre-Sentence Reports, Stand-Down Reports, and Panel Reports as required
β’ Represent the Youth Justice and Targeted Prevention Service (YJTPS) and present professional information in court
β’ Deliver targeted interventions based on assessment analysis to safeguard children and young people and protect the wider community
Requirements:
β’ Significant experience working within Youth Offending / Youth Justice Services
β’ Proven ability to manage complex caseloads independently
β’ Strong knowledge of National Standards, HMIP framework, and Child First principles
β’ Experience using AssetPlus
β’ Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
