About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Advanced / Senior Practitioner – Duty & Assessment to join Telford & Wrekin Council.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Duty & Assessment Team, with advanced rates available for suitable candidates.

There are currently 2 vacancies, with the potential for a third position for strong candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a diverse caseload of approximately 22–28 cases, undertaking assessments, care planning and interventions.
• Respond to referrals and safeguarding concerns, assessing risk and making evidence-based decisions.
• Undertake Child and Family Assessments and contribute to child protection processes and legal proceedings where required.
• Participate in duty twice per week.
• Build effective relationships with children, families and multi-agency partners.
• Apply legislation, policy and best practice to deliver high-quality, child-centred services.
• Use professional judgement to identify appropriate interventions and review and adapt plans.
• Undertake preventative work with families to reduce risk and improve outcomes.
• Maintain accurate records and produce high-quality assessments, reports and court documentation.
• Contribute to reflective practice, multi-agency working and service improvement.

Requirements:

• Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration and commitment to CPD.
• Experience within Duty & Assessment, Referral & Assessment, Front Door or Children’s Safeguarding services.
• Strong experience undertaking Child and Family Assessments, risk assessments and safeguarding investigations.
• Ability to manage complex caseloads and make confident professional decisions in high-pressure situations.
• Strong Senior Social Workers with relevant experience will also be considered.

£500 Completion Bonus:

Successful agency workers will be eligible for a £500 completion bonus after completing 444 working hours, equivalent to 12 weeks at 37 hours per week.

The bonus will be processed through the usual timesheet process once the qualifying hours have been completed.
