About the Role:
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) at Walsall Council. This is a fast-paced and rewarding out-of-hours safeguarding role, providing critical support to children, families, young people, and vulnerable adults during crisis situations.

Working within the Emergency Duty Team, you will respond to urgent referrals outside normal working hours, delivering timely safeguarding interventions and making robust decisions in high-risk and complex circumstances.

Key Responsibilities:
• Respond to emergency referrals outside office hours
• Work with children, families, young people, and vulnerable adults experiencing crisis situations
• Complete timely and robust risk assessments
• Make defensible safeguarding decisions in complex and high-risk situations
• Work collaboratively with police, health professionals, and emergency services
• Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and high-quality case records
• Ensure appropriate safeguarding and risk management actions are implemented
• Provide advice and guidance to partner agencies where required
• Promote the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable individuals through effective intervention

Requirements:
• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration
• Proven experience in child protection and/or adult safeguarding
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures, policies, and legislation
• Good understanding of the Children Act 1989 and Care Act 2014
• Ability to manage complex and high-risk cases effectively
• Strong assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and confidently under pressure
• Excellent communication and partnership-working abilities
• Experience working within emergency, duty, or crisis response services is desirable
