About the Role
Supply Care Solutions is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join Suffolk County Council’s Haverhill Social Care Team, based at Haverhill House.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Social Worker with strong experience in Children’s Social Care, assessments, Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP) and Looked After Children (LAC) work.
The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of approximately 30 cases, working in a fast-paced statutory environment to support positive outcomes for children, young people and families.
Haverhill House is the team’s main office location, providing convenient access to the families being supported. Depending on caseload requirements, there may also be opportunities to work from West Suffolk House, including for professional meetings and Child Protection Conferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertaking Child and Family Assessments in line with statutory requirements.
- Completing Section 17 and Section 47 assessments under the Children Act 1989.
- Managing and progressing Child in Need (CIN) plans.
- Managing and contributing to Child Protection (CP) plans.
- Working with Looked After Children (LAC) and supporting care planning arrangements where required.
- Assessing risk and need and developing appropriate intervention plans.
- Managing a varied and potentially complex caseload.
- Working proactively with children, young people, parents, carers and wider family networks.
- Working collaboratively with schools, health, police, education and other partner agencies.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records.
- Preparing for and attending professional meetings, reviews and Child Protection Conferences.
- Ensuring children’s wishes, feelings and voices remain central to assessment and decision-making.
- Identifying safeguarding concerns and taking appropriate action to protect children from harm.
- Working in accordance with relevant legislation, statutory guidance, local procedures and professional standards.
- Contributing to positive outcomes for children and families through effective social work intervention.
Requirements
- Recognised Social Work qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Significant experience within Children’s Social Care.
- Previous experience working within assessment teams.
- Strong experience undertaking Section 17 and Section 47 assessments.
- Experience managing Child in Need and Child Protection plans.
- Experience working with Looked After Children is highly desirable.
- Ability to manage a substantial caseload effectively.
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant children’s social care legislation.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, recording and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families and multi-agency professionals.
- Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
