🏢 Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum 2 days per week in the Rugby office

About the Role:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Homelessness & Prevention Officer to join Rugby Council on a temporary basis.

The successful candidate will work closely with individuals and families who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, providing housing advice, assessments and investigations, and supporting customers to secure suitable accommodation.

Strong experience working under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess homelessness applications and conduct detailed customer interviews.
• Investigate homelessness cases and manage statutory homelessness duties.
• Prepare and issue statutory homelessness decisions.
• Work in accordance with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Develop and monitor Personal Housing Plans.
• Prevent and relieve homelessness through appropriate interventions.
• Apply relevant legislation, guidance and case law.
• Support customers into private rented or social housing.
• Work with vulnerable customers and partner agencies to identify appropriate housing solutions.
• Manage a busy caseload while meeting statutory deadlines.
• Experience of Part VI Housing Act 1996, Housing Waiting List applications and temporary accommodation would be advantageous.

Requirements:

• Recent Local Authority homelessness or housing experience.
• Strong knowledge of Part VII Housing Act 1996.
• Excellent knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
• Experience making statutory homelessness decisions.
• Strong investigation and case management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload and meet statutory deadlines.
• Experience working with vulnerable customers and partner agencies.
• Knowledge of Part VI Housing Act 1996 and temporary accommodation is desirable.
