About the Role

Supply Care Solutions is currently recruiting for an experienced Substance Use Nurse to join a growing Recovery Solutions Team in Middlesbrough on a temporary assignment of 10 months, with the possibility of a longer-term extension.

You will provide high-quality, person-centred nursing care to service users with substance use needs, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to deliver clinical, pharmacological and psychosocial interventions.

The role will involve supporting and managing a varied caseload, including service users with complex needs, while completing comprehensive assessments, clinical care plans and treatment reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake physical and mental health assessments and make appropriate referrals or signposting to primary or secondary healthcare services
  • Deliver clinical procedures and interventions within your level of training and competence
  • Support the delivery of pharmacological and psychosocial interventions, including assessment, care planning and treatment reviews
  • Manage and support a caseload of service users with varying levels of complexity
  • Assess physical dependency and determine safe induction and titration of opiate substitute treatments where required
  • Complete detoxification assessments, identifying the need for specialist medical referral and suitability for community detoxification
  • Make appropriate referrals to specialist inpatient services and liaise with hospital and inpatient teams
  • Support incident trend analysis and service user mortality review processes
  • Complete clinical audits and contribute to medicine optimisation and cost-effectiveness
  • Maintain effective communication with GPs, healthcare professionals and partner agencies regarding treatment and progress
  • Maintain clinical competencies and meet NMC revalidation requirements
  • Participate in relevant team meetings and contribute to service development
  • Work in accordance with UK clinical guidelines, NICE guidance and local policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate, high-quality clinical records and case notes
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained
  • Uphold NMC nursing standards and administer medication safely in accordance with relevant PGDs

Requirements

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:

  • Current NMC registration
  • Relevant nursing qualification and experience
  • Experience working with individuals with substance misuse/substance use needs
  • Experience completing assessments and developing clinical care plans
  • Understanding of pharmacological and psychosocial interventions
  • Ability to manage a caseload and work effectively with service users presenting with complex needs
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and clinical record-keeping skills
  • Commitment to safe, evidence-based and person-centred care
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of relevant clinical guidelines, safeguarding requirements and professional standards
