About the Role
Supply Care Solutions is recruiting for an experienced Mental Health & Behaviour Change Practitioner to join a specialist substance use service in Middlesbrough on a temporary basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified practitioner with experience delivering brief psychological interventions, behaviour change support or psychosocial interventions.
You will deliver structured, evidence-based psychological and behaviour change interventions to service users experiencing low-level emotional and psychological barriers to change.
The role will also involve supporting trainee practitioners, contributing to reflective practice and helping to develop evidence-based behaviour change approaches across the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured 1:1 and group psychological interventions, including CBT-informed approaches, Motivational Interviewing, DBT skills and psychoeducation
- Assess and formulate low-intensity mental health and emotional needs
- Plan and deliver appropriate brief interventions
- Identify and escalate complex or higher-risk cases appropriately
- Mentor and provide practice oversight to two trainee practitioners
- Contribute to the development and implementation of behaviour change interventions
- Participate in reflective practice, quality assurance and continuous improvement
- Work collaboratively with caseworkers and wider partner agencies
- Contribute to applied research and evaluation projects
- Maintain accurate case notes and outcome measures
- Promote evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
- Support training and coaching across the wider team where required
Requirements
Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
- A recognised qualification to deliver psychological interventions, such as PWP, CBT, Counselling, Mental Health Nursing, Social Work or an equivalent recognised qualification
- Professional registration with a recognised body relevant to your scope of practice, such as HCPC, NMC, BACP, UKCP or equivalent
- Experience delivering brief psychological interventions in practice
- Experience supporting or mentoring others within a clinical or practice-based environment
- Training or demonstrable understanding of behaviour change theory and its application, particularly frameworks such as the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW) and COM-B model
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Business insurance where required before starting
- Understanding of safeguarding, risk escalation and information governance
- Understanding of low-level emotional/mental health presentations and barriers to recovery
- Ability to work flexibly within community and outreach settings
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Additional training in NICE-recommended approaches such as Motivational Interviewing, DBT, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Social Network Therapy or Motivational Enhancement Therapy
- Experience contributing to service improvement or research projects
- Experience within trauma-informed practice or substance use services
- Recognised training such as Principles and Practice of Behaviour Change or equivalent
- Existing clinical supervision or reflective practice training
Candidates who do not already hold relevant clinical supervision/reflective practice training must be willing to complete this training.
