About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to join the Adult Safeguarding Team at Telford & Wrekin Council.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident practitioner who is passionate about strengths-based practice, safeguarding adults, and delivering meaningful outcomes within a progressive local authority setting.
You will work within a dynamic and supportive team where your professional judgement, creativity, and expertise will directly influence positive change for individuals, families, and communities. Managing a varied and complex caseload, you will operate within an asset-based and community-led framework, applying professional curiosity, sound judgement, and a person-centred approach throughout your practice.
A key feature of the role is active participation in weekly peer review meetings, where complex cases are discussed collaboratively to promote reflective practice and high-quality decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Manage a complex Adult Social Care caseload in line with the BASW Professional Capabilities Framework.
β’ Undertake strengths-based assessments under the Care Act 2014.
β’ Develop, implement, and review creative, person-centred support plans.
β’ Undertake safeguarding enquiries and contribute to protection planning.
β’ Apply legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act 1998.
β’ Assess and manage risk using professional curiosity and critical analysis.
β’ Undertake Court of Protection applications and work closely with legal services.
β’ Work in partnership with individuals, families, carers, and multi-agency partners.
β’ Promote independence and reduce reliance on long-term statutory support.
β’ Contribute to reflective practice, peer review, and professional discussions.
β’ Provide guidance and professional input on complex cases within the team.
β’ Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case recording.
β’ Participate in the duty rota as required.
Requirements:
β’ Social Work England registration.
β’ Qualified Social Worker status.
β’ Significant experience within Adult Social Care and Safeguarding.
β’ Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks.
β’ Enhanced DBS (Adults and Childrenβs Barred List).
β’ Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
β’ Completion of Adult Social Care DFE Form (mandatory requirement β applications cannot proceed without this).
