About the Role:

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to join the Adult Safeguarding Team at Telford & Wrekin Council.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident practitioner who is passionate about strengths-based practice, safeguarding adults, and delivering meaningful outcomes within a progressive local authority setting.

You will work within a dynamic and supportive team where your professional judgement, creativity, and expertise will directly influence positive change for individuals, families, and communities. Managing a varied and complex caseload, you will operate within an asset-based and community-led framework, applying professional curiosity, sound judgement, and a person-centred approach throughout your practice.

A key feature of the role is active participation in weekly peer review meetings, where complex cases are discussed collaboratively to promote reflective practice and high-quality decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a complex Adult Social Care caseload in line with the BASW Professional Capabilities Framework.
• Undertake strengths-based assessments under the Care Act 2014.
• Develop, implement, and review creative, person-centred support plans.
• Undertake safeguarding enquiries and contribute to protection planning.
• Apply legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Human Rights Act 1998.
• Assess and manage risk using professional curiosity and critical analysis.
• Undertake Court of Protection applications and work closely with legal services.
• Work in partnership with individuals, families, carers, and multi-agency partners.
• Promote independence and reduce reliance on long-term statutory support.
• Contribute to reflective practice, peer review, and professional discussions.
• Provide guidance and professional input on complex cases within the team.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case recording.
• Participate in the duty rota as required.

Requirements:

• Social Work England registration.
• Qualified Social Worker status.
• Significant experience within Adult Social Care and Safeguarding.
• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks.
• Enhanced DBS (Adults and Children’s Barred List).
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
• Completion of Adult Social Care DFE Form (mandatory requirement – applications cannot proceed without this).
