About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of Middlesbrough Council for an experienced Customer Advice & Support Worker to join their dedicated Housing Solutions and Community Interventions Team on a temporary contract.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a multi-disciplinary team of homelessness, housing, and domestic abuse professionals who provide vital support to individuals with complex and diverse needs. The successful candidate will play a key role within the Front Door Team, acting as the first point of contact for service users and helping to ensure they receive timely and appropriate support.
Working across Middlesbrough House and Fountains Court, you will be part of a fast-paced and rewarding service that makes a meaningful difference to vulnerable individuals and families within the local community.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Provide face-to-face support at drop-in sessions and reception areas.
β’ Handle telephone calls and email enquiries efficiently and professionally.
β’ Conduct initial triage assessments to identify priorities and determine urgency of cases.
β’ Deliver short-term case oversight until service users are assigned to the appropriate service or their issue is resolved.
β’ Support the Housing Solutions Team with arranging appointments, gathering information and documentation, and organising interpreter services where required.
β’ Carry out general administrative duties including filing, photocopying, data entry, and responding to routine correspondence.
β’ Assist with business support functions such as processing orders and payments, minute taking, temporary accommodation administration, and housing register enquiries.
β’ Develop and maintain effective partnership working with internal teams and external agencies to ensure a coordinated response to service users’ needs.
β’ Maintain accurate manual and electronic records and management information systems.
Requirements:
β’ Previous experience in customer support, housing, homelessness, social care, or a similar support-based environment.
β’ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
β’ Excellent organisational and administrative abilities.
β’ Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
β’ Experience working with vulnerable individuals and complex cases would be advantageous.
β’ Proficient in using IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
