About the Role:

Supply Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a local authority client for a Street Works Support Assistant to join their busy Highways and Network Management Team based in Darlington.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the coordination and administration of street works activities, helping to minimise disruption across the local transport network while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and statutory duties.

The contract is expected to run until February 2027, with the potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with permit applications and queries, ensuring accuracy and compliance with required timescales
• Support the coordination of permits, including managing conflicts, refusals, and variation requests
• Liaise with works promoters and challenge proposals to minimise highway occupation
• Coordinate Council and utility works to reduce disruption across all transport modes
• Support statutory duties relating to street works and network management
• Assist with processing Section 50 licence applications from initiation through to completion
• Support financial administration including invoicing, fees, Section 74 charges, and fixed penalty notices
• Assist with road restriction procedures following substantial works
• Respond to enquiries and complaints within agreed timescales
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidance, and best practice
• Support road closure application processes and performance reporting
• Provide advice and guidance on street works matters and assist with dispute resolution
• Represent the Council at meetings where required

Requirements:

• Strong administrative and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Experience within highways, street works, network management, or local authority environments is desirable but not essential
• Commitment to equality, health and safety, safeguarding, and professional standards
