About the Role:
Supply Care Solutions are delighted to be recruiting for a Civic and Projects Officer β Democratic Services on behalf of our client based in Ipswich, Suffolk.
This exciting opportunity sits within the Democratic Services Team and offers a varied and rewarding role supporting civic functions, councillor services, elections, and corporate democratic processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the Mayoral Service, coordinating civic events, supporting councillors, and assisting with the delivery of elections and democratic projects.
Working closely with the Democratic Services Manager, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the future development of democratic services and civic engagement across the borough.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Manage the day-to-day operation of the Mayoral Service
β’ Coordinate and administer the Mayoral inbox and diary functions
β’ Organise and deliver Civic and Charity events on behalf of the Mayor
β’ Line manage the Councilβs Mayoral Team, including casual staff
β’ Manage and monitor Mayoral budgets, reporting and financial estimates
β’ Review and improve Councillor support processes and procedures
β’ Support Councillor Registration of Interests, Dispensations, ICT support and training programmes
β’ Coordinate logistical arrangements for local elections and democratic processes
β’ Assist with the implementation of the Democratic Services Operational Plan
β’ Contribute to the leadership and continuous improvement of Democratic Services
β’ Deputise for the Democratic Services Manager when required
β’ Support the development of innovative service delivery models and partnership working
β’ Assist with corporate projects, policy development and democratic service improvements
β’ Identify efficiencies and introduce new working practices across Committee and Mayoral Services
Requirements:
β’ Experience working within Democratic Services, Local Government, Governance, Civic Administration or a related environment
β’ Experience organising events, projects or civic functions
β’ Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
β’ Experience managing budgets and monitoring expenditure
β’ Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
β’ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
β’ Experience supervising or managing staff is desirable
β’ Strong IT skills and ability to support process improvements
β’ Understanding of democratic processes, governance or elections would be advantageous
β’ Ability to work flexibly to meet service requirements
