About the Role:
We are currently recruiting on behalf of Cheshire West and Chester Council for an experienced Communications Lead to join their communications team on a full-time basis.

This is an agile working opportunity offering flexible working hours between 8am and 6pm, provided contracted hours are completed. The successful candidate will support strategic communication activity across the borough and work closely with senior managers and officers to deliver high-quality communications and campaigns.

The role will involve attending in-person meetings when required, including Cabinet meetings, and supporting the creation of photography and video content across various borough locations. Occasional travel to council offices in Winsford and Chester may also be required.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide professional communication support to senior managers and officers in line with the Council’s corporate plan priorities
• Deliver audience-led communication campaigns across press, marketing, digital, internal communications, photography, and copywriting
• Support the creation of engaging photography and video content across borough locations
• Help protect and enhance the Council’s reputation through effective communication with residents, businesses, partners, and stakeholders
• Attend meetings and provide communications support at key council events when required
• Work collaboratively with internal teams to deliver clear and consistent messaging

Requirements:
• Previous experience in a communications, media, or public relations role
• Strong copywriting and content creation skills
• Experience delivering communication campaigns across multiple platforms
• Ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and partners
• Experience within local government or public sector communications is desirable
• Full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential
