About the Role:
An exciting interim opportunity has arisen within Nuffield Health for an experienced Director of Clinical Services to join Cambridge Hospital on a temporary basis. This senior leadership role is responsible for providing strong clinical leadership and ensuring the delivery of the highest standards of patient-centred, evidence-based and innovative care.

Working closely with the Director of Operations and the wider Hospital Senior Management Team, the successful candidate will support the development and implementation of the hospital’s strategic objectives while championing clinical quality, governance, safety and patient experience.

This role will be 37.5 hours per week, typically 8:00am – 4:00pm with some flexibility.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and champion a strong patient safety culture across the hospital
• Oversee clinical governance, risk management and quality assurance frameworks
• Act as the named safeguarding lead and Director for Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC)
• Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, national standards and organisational policies
• Lead clinical effectiveness strategies, audits and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support the implementation of hospital strategy, service development and operational excellence
• Oversee workforce management, staffing structures and clinical competency development
• Manage clinical resources and support effective budget management
• Promote patient-centred care and exceptional patient experience standards
• Lead and inspire multidisciplinary clinical teams, fostering a culture of openness and continuous improvement
• Support recruitment, retention, succession planning and leadership development across clinical services
• Deputise alongside the Director of Operations in the absence of the Health System Director

Requirements:
• Registered Nurse (Adult) or equivalent clinical professional qualification
• Degree level qualification or significant equivalent senior experience
• Leadership or management qualification/training or substantial related experience
• Significant senior-level clinical leadership experience
• Experience managing multiple teams within healthcare environments
• Strong understanding of clinical governance, patient safety and regulatory frameworks
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience in quality improvement, service development and change management
• Ability to analyse and interpret clinical and operational data effectively
• IT literate with strong organisational and strategic planning skills
• Understanding of the independent healthcare sector and regulatory requirements would be advantageous
